If you live with chronic back pain, you’d probably do just about anything to make it go away. However, part of overcoming this discomfort is figuring out why the pain started happening in the first place. To give you a better understanding of what could be causing your pain, here are some of the most common conditions we see at our wellness centre that result in back pain.
- Muscle Strain- Repeated heavy lifting, sudden awkward movements, or sitting in one place for too long can strain your back muscles and lead to discomfort. Additionally, if you are in poor physical condition, this strain on your muscles can also lead to back spasms.
- Ruptured Disks- The disks in your spinal column act as cushions for your vertebrae. If this soft material ever bulges and ruptures, it might press on your spinal column, causing extreme discomfort. However, it’s important to keep in mind that you can still experience little to no pain if one of your disks ruptures.
- Skeletal Abnormalities- If your spine curves irregularly, you may experience regular back pain. The good news is that if you have Scoliosis, a condition that occurs when the spine curves to one side, it may only lead to back pain in severe circumstances.
Regardless of the cause of your back pain, at Sprains & Strains, we will do everything we can to help you overcome it and live a healthier, more active lifestyle. For more information about what we do to help our patients find relief from chronic back pain, contact us today.
