Achilles Tendonitis, Mississauga, ON

If you want to regain your ability to play sports and participate in other activities despite having Achilles tendonitis, come and see us in Mississauga, ON.

Achilles TendonitisThe Achilles tendon is a band of tissue that connects the calf muscles at the back of the lower leg to the heel bone. Achilles tendonitis, which is an overuse injury, can develop when this tendon becomes overly tired and sore due to continual strain. At Heal Sports Medicine, many of our patients who have Achilles tendonitis are runners who suddenly increase the duration or the intensity of their runs, as well as middle-aged people who play sports on an occasional basis.

If you develop this condition, it might begin as a mild ache that occurs in the back of your leg or right above your heel after you participate in a sports activity. As you continue to run, climb stairs, or participate in other physical activities, episodes of more severe pain may begin to happen. If you have Achilles tendonitis, you might also experience stiffness or tenderness in this tendon when you first wake up in the morning and find that the pain becomes less severe as you go about your normal activities.

We recommend making an appointment with our office in Mississauga, Ontario if the pain surrounding your Achilles tendon is persistent and does not go away after several days. When you visit us, we will introduce you to strategies that can help you overcome this painful condition and help you get back to doing the activities you enjoy. To schedule an appointment at our wellness centre or to find out more about what Achilles tendonitis is, please do not hesitate to contact us at Heal Sports Medicine today.
